The Nest is Best

Cuddly kittens. Cuddly puppies. Cuddly parrots!!! Yes, Bondi, a Yellow Head Amazon parrot redefines the cuddly pet category.  Bondi goes from being the center of attention to sharing the spotlight -  first with a puppy and then with a  baby.  Finally acclimated to his circumstances, Bondi is distracted by something bright and shiny and accidentally "flies the coop."  His family's subsequent efforts to get him back underline the true message of the book.  Bondi and his family may not have found Dorothy's red slippers, but surely they were equally fervent in saying, "there's no place like home" or, more appropriately, "the nest is best."
